G.K. Chesterton

From Wikipedia:

As a political thinker, he cast aspersions on both Liberalism and Conservatism, saying, "The whole modern world has divided itself into Conservatives and Progressives. The business of Progressives is to go on making mistakes. The business of the Conservatives is to prevent the mistakes from being corrected."

Pat,

I suggest that you put your significant literary talents to use by writing about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and, specifically, Heber C. Kimball, who declared: "I think no more of taking another wife than I do of buying a cow."

Yours,

Steve

A conservative is a liberal who was mugged by reality. Secular progressives were similarly mugged by reality but won't press charges

Thanks, but I didn't write that. I was quoting Wikipedia. Wikipedia was quoting Chesterton.

P.S. I didn't take the picture either.

I HAVE been right almost the entire time since 9/11. Talk radio has been wrong almost the entire time since 9/11. Glenn Beck, Limbaugh et al... whining about government regulation right to the brink of the financial crisis. If the country took their advice, the world economy would have collapsed. Those guys should take personally responsibility and commit suicide.

Too bad Bush attended those distracting CIA/NSA briefings every day when all he had to do was call 'Aaron' to get the right answers to all our nations problems. It's just uncanny how armchair generals and amateur econmists have such amazing hindsight! But I'm sure you are probably too modest and or busy to run for any type of political office and actually DO something to put your brilliant solutions in the hands of our clueless leaders.
Maybe you could point out to them the successful history of socialism and how it has worked out so well in other countries.
